Day 5

Today we left DC for Mt. Vernon, the estate of George Washington which
overlooks the Potomac River.

We met our guide at 10am and finished our tour at about 3:30.
After an amazing pizza dinner, we headed back to Foggy Bottom for the night.

The grounds, tour, museum, and education center were amazing.

Interactive Be George display:
receive military information and advice and then determine what choices
you would make in his shoes.

Visiting the tombs of George and Martha

They still have animals on the farm.

We made our way to Alexandria, Virginia where the townhouse of George and Martha was.
It has a quaint historic district on Kings St in Old Town.

The church that George Washington attended: Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia.

  1. Great Living History Classroom, Students. I bet all that book study of American History makes more sense now. Glad you got to step back in time and "experience" some of it. Good memories!! The little townhouse and Church remind me of old town Boston where Paul Revere's house and the North Church are. Only that church had no pews but square cubicles with a bench in each, so that the whole family would be in one and the children would sit on the floor out of sight. :-)
Great pictures of you all having fun! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. :-) God bless each of you.
